Thomas Dey Collins of Pompton Plains, NJ died on Friday, October 20, 2017 at Cedar Crest. He was 82 years old, born on November 5, 1934 in Nutley, NJ. Tom attended school in Nutley until college, where he graduated from Bethany College in WV. It was at Bethany that he forged lifelong friendships and met his wife.

Tom leaves his wife of 62 years, Nicie (Patruno) Collins, his three children, Kirk Collins and partner Allison Carlson, Glenn Collins and wife Stacy Wright Collins, and Judy Collins Kiddoo and husband Michael Ganon. Tom was also the beloved grandfather of Kyle Collins, Kevin Collins and wife Christine, Ryan Collins, Tara Anne Collins, Danny Kiddoo, Andrea Rose Kiddoo, and great-grand father of Harper Grace Collins. He is also survived by brother, Douglass Collins and sister, Joyce Morbach. He was predeceased by brother Warren Collins (1989) and very recently, by grandson Tyler Collins (2017).

Tom and Nicie resided in Wayne for 55 years, where they raised their family. He owned Town & Country Hardware in Wayne from 1960 to 1997. Tom was extremely active in his community and gave freely of his time and energy. Through the years he was a sponsor of Wayne Little League teams, a Boy Scout Leader, a member of, and president, of the Wayne Chamber of Commerce, and a Rotarian. His favorite organization was the Foundation for the Handicapped, volunteering in many different capacities including long time Board Member.

There will be a celebration of life on Saturday, November 18th at 2 pm
