Rowlance J. Harney passed away peacefully on Friday, July 12, 2024 after years of declining health at the Embassy Manor Nursing Home in Edison N.J.

Rowlance was born in Colihaut, Dominica West Indies on December 10, 1945, the loving son of Lucy Belle and Sylvester C. Harney. He was educated in the Catholic School System of Dominica and graduated from Saint Mary’s Academy in Roseau, Dominica. After high school graduation Rowlance worked in the Ministry of Agriculture. In 1965 Rowlance immigrated to the United States living in Harlem NYC and later relocated to the Bronx. Rowlance worked as a manager of collection agency until 1990 when he became disabled.

Rowlance is survived by his wife Carol Harris, daughter Kelly Rene Harney (Henry) of FL, son Jonathan Randolph Harney (Valentina) of Italy, four grandchildren Nin Adela Kedar El of NJ, Jassiel Ahmad Benetiz of Fl. Olivia Luce Harney, Vittoria Danae Harney of Italy a great grandchild Nirvana- Lux Orr of NJ. Rowlance is also survived by loving step-mother Roma Euthelly “Telly” Harney. His by 10 sisters Agnes Adonis-Athanaze of England, Jane Adonis of NY, Philina Watson of Dominica, Octavia Jeffery of Dominica, Annette Bain of Canada, Brenda James of NJ, Betty Meredith Browne, of FL Clara Hagley of NY, Judy Caporale of NJ, Lydia Marsham of FL, 3 brothers Justlin Adonis of Dominica, Guy Harney of Saint Croix and Steve Harney of Saint Thomas. Rowlance is also survived by numerous special cousins, loving nieces, nephews, loving sisters and brothers in-laws and caring friends. He was presided in death by his parents Lucy Belle and Sylvester C. Harney, his sister Clara George of England and his brother Alsmith Adonis of Dominica.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, August 17, 2024 at 10:00 AM at Our Lady of Sorrows Roman Catholic Church 70 Claremont Avenue, Jersey City, NJ
