Patricia “Pat” Payrich, 65, of Staten Island, NY, passed away peacefully on December 20, 2025, at the Hospice at RWJ Hospital in NJ after a courageous battle with breast cancer. Born on June 27, 1960, in Bridgeport, CT, Pat was the beloved daughter of Frank and Ellen Payrich (Gmasz). Pat’s journey through life was marked by resilience and love. As a young mother with two children, she faced challenges head-on, always putting her family first. Her life took a joyful turn when she met her devoted husband, Jim. Together, they built a home filled with laughter, warmth, and the bustling energy of four sons. Pat’s quirky humor and infectious smile lit up every room she entered. She was the kind of person who could make anyone feel at ease, whether through a witty remark or a comforting hug. Her family fondly remembers her uncanny ability to find the prettiest rocks during family walks—a hobby that became a cherished ritual. Professionally, Pat dedicated 26 years to Richmond University Medical Center as a nursing assistant, touching countless lives with her compassion and gentle care. She was known for her unwavering commitment to her patients and her colleagues, always going the extra mile to help those in need. As her children grew and started families of their own, Pat found immense joy in visiting them and spending precious time with her grandchildren. Her love for Alexander, Brian, Abigail, and Fionnuala was boundless, and she delighted in every moment she shared with them—whether reading stories, playing games, or simply watching them grow. Pat had been looking forward to retirement, dreaming of splitting her time between her sons’ homes and embarking on new adventures. Her spirit of curiosity and her zest for life inspired everyone around her. Left to cherish her memory are her loving husband, James Wylie Sr.; her mother, Ellen; her brother, Michael Payrich; and her sister and brother-in-law, Julianna and John Lowchy. She is also survived by her four sons: Jonathan Sanchez (and wife Jamie), Patrick Sanchez (and wife Diane), James Wylie Jr. (and wife Mirna), and Shawn Payrich; as well as her adored grandchildren: Alexander, Brian, and Abygail Wylie, and Fionnuala McSpedon-Sanchez.
