Gordon Donald Cunningham

Gordon D. Cunningham, 71, of Fair Lawn, NJ passed away at home on January 17, 2024 after a long illness. Gordon was born December 9, 1952 to loving parents Donald and Audrey Cunningham in Hackensack, NJ and grew up and attended school in Dumont, NJ.

Gordon worked for over 30 years at Sleepable Sofa/Lodi Down & Feather of Lodi, NJ and in retirement worked for several years as a crossing guard in Glen Rock, NJ. Even in the cold weather, he carried dog treats for the dogs being walked and enjoyed seeing all the children each day.

Gordon is survived by his loving wife Sherry Cunningham and daughter, Jenna Scott, her husband Bryan Scott and his grandchildren Abby, James, Kollyns and Easton Scott of Waldwick, NJ. He was the loving brother of Susan Iacobucci and her husband, Joseph, and the loving uncle of Debrah and Robert Bedi and niece, Alicia. Also, Gordon survived by his loving mother-in-law, Teresa Thompson, brother-in-law Joseph Thompson and wife, Jaime and their children, Gianna, Joey and Lauren. Gordon is survived by cousins Kathy, Ellen, Bud, Andy, Karen and their families.

Gordon’s kind heart and sense of humor will be missed. He was known by his family for sitting on the benches in North Side Park watching sporting events, fireworks and fishing contests as well as riding the trolley on the boardwalk in Ocean City, MD. His greatest joy was getting to know his grandchildren. Gordon is greatly missed by his beloved pets Cooper, Bentley, Jersey and Meow, his orange tabby.

In keeping with Gordon’s wishes, he will be cremated and the family will have a private Celebration of Life at a later date.
