Edward was a licensed Real Estate Agent in Southern Louisiana then became a Licensed Stockbroker for Merrill Lynch in New Orleans, Louisiana. In 1975, he bought an existing Service Master franchise in Lake Charles, Louisiana quickly finding success, selling his locations within 10 years.
