Dereta Greenaway was born in Eltham London in December 1945. This was a difficult time after the war and she was mostly raised by her grand parents, who she even spoke about with a smile in her last days.
She went to a catholic school and was raised and taught by nuns. In fact to this day, two of her great-aunts are alive in theirs 90's and are nuns in Ireland.
Dereta lived an interesting life. She married three times, lived on three different continents, loved to travel, loved adventure and meeting new people. In fact, she would often say "Let's go to the airport early, I love to sit and watch people arrive and leave" which was the opening scene of one of her favorite films "Love Actually". It hurts to lose a parent and a best friend and when you do, the pain is always there, but if we can all choose to leave the day after being with sons, grandchildren, friends making wonderful memories, dancing, laughing; I think we would all struggle to think of a more wonderful way to leave this world.
