David Alexander Weems, beloved father, brother, uncle, and friend to many, passed away at his home in Maplewood, New Jersey, aged 60.
David was born in Monmouth, Illinois on November 17th, 1963 to Don and Ann Weems. David grew up in a loving home in St. Louis, Missouri with his parents, siblings Stuart, Todd, and Heather, and loyal family dog, Ruff.
He attended Oberlin College from 1982 to 1986, where he majored in art history and played football as an offensive lineman for the Oberlin College Yeomen. It was at this small town in Ohio where David made many of his cherished, lifelong friends. After graduating, he moved to New York City in 1986 to explore cultural and career opportunities.
David continued to expand his education, earning a law degree from New York Law School in 1999. Although he remained a working member of the legal community throughout his life, his heart was devoted to his true passion: rooting for his favorite baseball team, the St. Louis Cardinals.
David’s proudest accomplishment and greatest source of joy were his two sons, Christopher and Douglas. He poured his heart into raising them, providing unwavering support and off-color jokes throughout their lives.
David will be remembered for his warmth, humor, and genuine kindness, which left an indelible mark on everyone who knew him.
David is survived by his sons, Christopher and Douglas, his siblings, Stuart and Heather, nephew Barrett, nieces Alexandria and Sofia, and cat Zuzu.
