Carolan C. Sommer of Basking Ridge, NJ, 53, passed peacefully on Oct. 2, 2018, in Overlook Medical Center, Summit, NJ.
She is survived by her four children, Elizabeth Sommer of Brooklyn, Michael Sommer of Atlanta, Ga., Melissa Sommer, a senior at Virginia Tech, and Jack Sommer, a sophomore at the University of Colorado. She is also survived by her parents, Arthur and Gail Condon of Bay Head, NJ, and by her brother, Paul Condon and his wife, Renee, and nephew and niece, Sean and Claire, of Ridgewood, NJ.
Carolan was born in Summit on Memorial Day, May 31, 1965, attended Summit Schools and graduated from Lynchburg (Va.) College with a bachelor of arts degree in 1987. After graduation, she was employed by the Howard Rubenstein Public Relations Firm in New York until her marriage in October 1990. Thereafter she was the loving and caring mother and homemaker to her children.
Cremation will be private.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. James Catholic Church, Basking Ridge, on Friday, Oct. 5, at 11:30 am. A reception at the Basking Ridge Country Club for friends and family will be held following the service.
