Camelia (Guerra) Torres Obituary

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Camelia Torres, who passed away on Sunday, September 22, 2024, at the age of 79.

Born on May 31, 1945, in San Sebastian, Puerto Rico, she grew up in Barrio Hoyamala and later moved to Union City, New Jersey. She spent most of her lifespan in Puerto Rico.  She was a dedicated and devoted wife to her late husband Salvador Torres, and a loving mother to her children Ismael Lisboa, Jeanette Lisboa, Marilyn Guerra, Salvador Torres and Jessica Cruz.

Camelia Torres had a natural talent for cooking, her homemade dishes were always the highlight of family gatherings. She enjoyed playing dominos, cards and Bingo. She loved watching boxing and listening to Spanish music.

Camelia Torres was a warrior, and her resiliency was very admirable. Her love and compassion extended to all those who knew her, and she will be remembered for her infectious smile and warm personality. She especially spoiled her grandchildren and loved them to pieces. She also had a soft spot for all her friends and shared a listening ear when needed. In the times of hardships, Camelia was present. She was always there for her family and friends in the good times and the bad.

Camelia Torres was preceded in death by two children, Salvador Torres and Marilyn Guerra. She is survived by three children, Ismael Lisboa, Jeanette Lisboa, and Jessica Torres (husband Elieser), six grandchildren, Jennifer Hernandez (husband Nathaniel Boyd), Rodrigo Lisboa, Dennis Maldonado, Eliah Mieles, Devani Cruz, Jinelly Cruz and six great-grandchildren, Jenavive Boyd, Nathaniel Boyd Jr., Kesiah Boyd, David Boyd and Neveah Boyd who will miss her dearly. Camelia loved her family with all her heart and expressed it in acts of thoughtfulness in random moments.

A private memorial service will be held for immediate family members on October 13, 2024. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in memory of Camelia Torres.

Rest in peace, dear mother. You will forever be in our hearts and memories. You will never be forgotten.
