Virginia (Burdette) Burns

Virginia Burdette Burns passed away peacefully on February 8, 2018. She was 98.

Ginny was born in Newark, NJ to Eleanor (nee Opdyke) and Raymond Burdette in June 1919. She was predeceased by her beloved husband Jack and her dear sister, Eleanor. Her brother, Raymond Jr, died in infancy.

Ginny is survived by her niece, Carol and her husband, Rich; her niece, Maureen and her husband, Bill; and her nephew, Bill and his wife, Ellen. She was also loved by many grand and great-grand nieces and nephews including Scott, Adam, Bill, Colin, Siobhan, Jessica, and Melissa and their families, and especially cousins Susan and Alyce and their families.

Ginny, born in Newark spent much of her childhood in Erie, PA and then Brooklyn, NY. She worked for the Canada Dry Corp for most of her working life. In their retirement, she and her husband were world travelers visiting much of the USA, as well as Europe, North Africa and Russia. She also traveled to the Holy Land with her niece Carol, a life long dream.

Ginny will be missed for her giving and loving heart, her wonderful sense of humor and her devotion to Our Lord and to her family and friends. Her family is grateful to the nurses and staff of Cedar Crest, for their many years of care during her long illness.
