Viola (Bartolomucci) Certisimo, 95, of Hoboken, NJ, died peacefully in her home on March 25, 2020 with family by her side.
Born on June 6, 1924, youngest daughter of the late Carlo & Rosa (Romano) Bartolomucci. Viola loved spending time with her children and grandchildren at her summer home in Seaside Heights, where she loved to swim in the ocean. She was an avid collector, especially of cookbooks and enjoyed cooking and baking. She enjoyed frequenting flea markets. At family gatherings, you would often find her grandchildren and great-grandchildren joined around the piano as she played old Italian songs. She worked in the Hudson County Courthouse as a clerk and volunteered her time at St. Mary’s Thrift Shop in Hoboken.
Viola is predeceased by her beloved husband, Arthur Certisimo, her daughter Maryann Buonarota (late Michael) and her brothers Mikey Bartolomucci and Sylvio Bartolomucci. She is survived by, two sisters Victoria Bartolucci and Albina Cervelli, her son Arthur Certisimo (late Frances), daughter Carol Wickham (Richard), daughter Victoria Aligo (Louis), 8 grandchildren, Sandra Lombardi (Louis), Arthur Certisimo (Barbara), Stacy Scott (Michael), Juliann Bonavolonta (Joseph), Dena Buonarota-Russell, Richard Buonarota (Danielle), Lance (Nicole), Louis and 12 great grandchildren, Marc, Aleah, Emily, Michaela, Michael, Julia, Nicole, Keith, Ryan, Joseph, Dylan and Tyler.
A memorial mass will be held later in the Spring.
