David Madden Obituary

David "Dave" Madden, 68, passed away at his home in Hamburg, NJ on Friday, July 31st.  Born in New Bedford, Massachusetts, Dave was the son of the late William H. Madden and the late Helene (Smith) Madden-Rossi. He was raised in Salem, Danvers & Peabody, Massachusetts. Dave graduated from St. John's Preparatory School in Danvers, MA, Class of 1969 then attended pre-med at Boston College before shifting his career to the automotive field.

Dave is survived by his daughter, Julie Ciarametaro-Cook of Chandler, AZ; two granddaughters, Jessica Ciarametaro of MA and Stefanie Ciarametaro of AZ; three brothers, Paul Madden and his wife Anne of Baltimore, MD, Daniel Madden and his wife Judy of Sun City, FL, William "Chip" Madden and his wife Kathy of Peabody, MA; a sister, Cheryl Williams and her husband Tom of Murfreesboro, TN; a sister-in-law, Terry Madden of Norfolk, VA; and MANY nieces, nephews and cousins whom he loved dearly.

In addition to his parents, Dave was predeceased by his wife, Catherine "Cathy" (Quinn) Madden; their daughter, Melissa Ruth Madden; a brother, Robert Madden; and his step-father Lee Rossi.

As a teenager in Massachusetts, Dave was a drummer in a rock and Motown band. After graduation, Dave lived in Salem, MA for many years with his daughter, Julie. It was there that he met and married his wife, Cathy. He moved to Rhode Island, then to Plattsburgh, NY to work as a service manager for a Volkswagen/Porsche/Audi dealership. While there, he enjoyed spending time fishing with his wife and daughter, and bartending aboard the M/V Juniper Tour Boat on Lake Champlain.

Following the birth of their daughter, Melissa, Dave and Cathy moved to Byram Township, NJ where he worked for Sussex Honda in Newton. He spent his evenings and weekends looking after Melissa, who required extra love and medical care. During his leisure time, he began building computers as a hobby. He became quite proficient in technology and started writing computer programs for fun.

After Melissa and Cathy passed away, Dave retired in Hamburg, NJ. He spent his time working on his computers, writing a book, and in his final months he enjoyed driving for Uber & Lyft. Despite his declining health, he tried to get out to see a friend's band play when he could, and he still made sure to introduce himself to everyone he crossed paths with each day. He was always a people person, and will be thought of fondly by his many friends and acquaintances.

Dave will be remembered for his amazing sense of humor, his funny jokes, his love for music, the New England Patriots and Boston Red Sox. He enjoyed cooking and was an avid mixologist. He made the best salsa and margaritas north of the border!

No visiting hours will be planned. Dave will be laid to rest in Rowley, Massachusetts sometime next year when his family and friends can travel safely. A Celebration of Life will be planned at that time for all who knew him to attend.

For those who wish to contribute, a GoFundMe campaign has been started to help cover his final expenses and services next year: gf.me/u/yqivpu
