Michael Anthony Baselice

First child to Frank and Nancy Baselice, Born October 9, 1947

Michael was a beautiful soul who never spoke an unkind word.  He was brilliant and gifted, with the ability to absorb vast amounts of knowledge and using it to better himself and those who knew him.  Michael suffered from bipolar schizophrenia, and struggled with this disease throughout his life, but despite the daily battle and hindrance of this complex and debilitating disease, Michael lived a highly productive life always with a positive attitude, an intense resiliency and positive outlook on life.

He lived his life always wanting to help others and always gave of himself to those in need, from the very early age of twelve, when he would repair radios and televisions for all the neighborhood for free, to his years of retirement, where he achieved Microsoft MOUSE Trainer Certification and delivered technical classes at the Center for Career Freedom for persons with chronic psychiatric disabilities, on a volunteer basis.

Michael was born in The Bronx and attended Immaculate Conception School on Gun Hill Road in The Bronx, and attended Saint Raymond’s High School under the tutelage of the order of the Lasallian Brothers, located on Castle Hill Avenue at East Tremont Avenue.

He attended Iona College in New Rochelle, New York and graduated with a Degree in Chemistry (Honors)

Michael began working at the Co-Op City Power Plant and during that time, he achieved two Masters Degrees: Masters of Computer Science from Brooklyn Polytechnic Institute, known today as the NYU Polytechnic School of Engineering and Masters in Business Administration from Brooklyn Polytechnic Institute, known today as the NYU Polytechnic School of Engineering

He obtained a First Class Radiotelegraph Operator's License with T1 and T2 Authority serving as the chief radio operator and worked at Fordham Universities WFUV Radio Station

Michael held a Technicians Class C Amateur Radio License – Call Sign WB2LZQ

He worked for Loral Electronics where he held Top Secret Security Clearance and was one of the few engineers who developed the advanced radar systems for the Air Force F Class jet fighters. 

He was an innovator who designed and implemented the very first fiber optic network for the New York Stock Exchange

He held positions at SIAC and was a consultant for the NYSE and Wall Street financial institutions, where he also designed and implemented the first Master Card Global Network for Credit Card processing

He was also a Vice President at CitiBank, in the banks Information Technology Department

Michael was a loving husband to Edna Solomon Baselice for many years. 

He is survived by his brother Anthony Baselice and wife Janice Carter Baselice of Colts Neck New Jersey, nieces Misha Lowenstein, Erika Baselice and great nephew Alexander Lowenstein. 

He is also survived by his sister Marie Baselice Pascoal, husband Alan Pascoal and nieces Leanne and Alana Pascoal of Minnesota.      

A funeral mass will be held on Saturday, February 27, 2016 at 10:30 am at St. Mary's Church. 1 Phalanx Rd, Colts Neck, NJ 07722.  The inurment of his remains will follow at the Holmdel Cemetery, 900 Holmdel Rd, Holmdel, NJ 07733.
